Has God regretted placing you where you are?

Has God regretted placing you where you are?

Text: 1 Sam 15:11, 35

God said He regretted making Saul king over Israel. The full story can be found in 1 Samuel 15:1-35. King Saul was Israel's first king, a prominent and powerful leader. He loved his throne and was well-known, honoured, and respected because God had chosen him to rule. Yet, God expressed regret for having made Saul king.

Now, ask yourself: Has God ever regretted giving you honour and putting you in your position? God placed you there, trusting you would obey Him, yet perhaps you've prioritized your status, honour, and comfort instead. Have you forgotten that you're there to fulfil God's purpose? Reflect on this: Could God regret having put you in your role?

Are you a profitable servant or an unprofitable one? Does heaven rejoice over you in your position, or does it regret that you hold it? Wouldn't it be better to repent now, before God removes you and replaces you with a more faithful servant, as He did with King Saul, whom He replaced with David, the one He called "a man after my own heart"?

Remember, whatever position you hold, you are there to carry out God's purpose—not for personal gain, but to impact others. Whether you're a cleaner, driver, cook, or anything else, your role has meaning. David was the youngest of his father's sons, yet he faithfully completed his duties. God saw his commitment and elevated him from shepherding sheep to leading Israel as king. God tested his faithfulness in small things and entrusted him with more significant tasks, and David fulfilled them well. God never regretted making David king.

So, ask yourself: Are you like Saul or like David? May God help us to be faithful in every assignment He gives us. My prayer is that we should be like David, not Saul. Amen.

If you are not born-again, your eternal home is hell, fine, but if you didn’t want to go to hell, you can do so now, by allowing Jesus into your life. Ask Jesus to forgive you for all your sins, and accept him as your Lord and Saviour.
