Questions to ask
Who are they?
In what location can they be found?
Where do they
make their home?
Why are they referred to as VIRGINS? In what way are these
virgins unique? How are they to be identified? In what ways are they
distinguishable? ...and so on.
Specifically, according to Matthew 25:1-13 in the Bible, there are two groups of virgins: the intelligent and the foolish. In verse 4, it says, ‘’but the wise took oil in
their containers with their lamps. The oil keeps their candle blazing until
the bridegroom, who is our Lord Jesus Christ, arrives. By the time the foolish
virgins return from where they acquired oil for their lamp, the door has been
shut.
The oil here might relate to words of God, prayer, living a pure life, evangelizing
the gospel, and refusing to compromise your religion for money, posts, or other
worldly goods. The prudent virgins live as if Christ may arrive any minute from
now.
But foolish virgins are careless Christians who preserve animosity for
years—those clergy who compare themselves with themselves. They live on past
glories; they mask their sins; they live as if Jesus would not arrive now. The
spirit of it doesn’t matter; it is the spirit that rules them. A little lie
doesn't matter to them. Their hymn is ‘’apply knowledge to commit sin,
assuming God would not know. They are born-again Christians who are directed by human beings, not the Bible; they worry about what others will say, like Saul, the king of Israel, who lost his kingdom because he feared mankind more than God (1 Samuel 15:22).
Let me tell you about a woman quickly. Her mother told her about Christ, but
refused to listen to her. She kept telling her mother that she wanted to enjoy her life first and promised her that she would commit her life to Christ
when she was older. But behold, she had a major mishap as she was returning from
a night out at a party. She was taken to the hospital to salvage her life, but sadly, it
was too late. The mother was by her side in the hospital, praying for her lovely daughter to get better. As she was with her, she observed the changes in the
backdrop of her eye, and then her daughter cried. Mother! Mother! Mother! Watch
them. They came in through the wall. They are coming to take her away to
hell. She was pleading with her mother to save her from the hands of these
people, but she was so sad that her mother could not see them. She cried and
wailed till she died. Her mother grieved watching her darling daughter head
into everlasting doom.
If you are still drowning in sin, please repent. Tomorrow may be too late; even
the next few minutes could be too late.
