Give God Your Lifetime
This message is about dedicating every moment of our lives to God. Consider this: we have 24 hours in a day, and throughout our lives, we spend a significant amount of time in prayer before God. Yet, many only set aside time on Sundays or during special occasions. But what if we truly committed our entire lifetime—our time, our energy, our every moment—to the Lord?
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)
The Cost of Commitment
Giving God our lifetime means more than just offering our presence at Sunday services. It means dedicating every hour—even when we’re busy with school, work, or leisure—to nurturing our relationship with Him. It is not enough to pray only when you’re at church; you must also set aside personal time to read the Bible, pray, and seek His guidance.
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” (Colossians 3:23)
Evaluating Our Time
Ask yourself: How many hours in your day are truly dedicated to God? Are you spending time on social media, watching movies, or browsing endlessly when you could be building your relationship with the One who never fails? Your time is a precious resource, and God calls us to invest it wisely.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Living a Lifetime for Christ
When you dedicate your life to God, you are not only investing in your future but also in eternal rewards. It might mean sacrificing short-term pleasures for long-term spiritual growth. Just as Abraham was willing to sacrifice what was most dear to him, we too must be ready to give up our time to honor God.
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)
Practical Steps to Dedicate Your Lifetime to God:
-
Prioritize Daily Devotion:
Set aside time every day for personal prayer and Bible study. Make this time non-negotiable—whether it’s in the morning, during lunch, or before you sleep.“Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3)
-
Engage in Meaningful Fellowship:
Don’t limit your spiritual growth to weekly church services. Participate in small groups, Bible studies, and one-on-one discipleship to deepen your intimacy with God.“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20)
-
Evaluate Your Priorities:
Reflect on how you spend your time. Are you investing in what lasts or merely in fleeting distractions? Adjust your schedule so that your relationship with God takes precedence.“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
-
Live with Eternity in Mind:
Remember, when we leave this world, nothing of our earthly achievements accompanies us. But a life spent for Christ has eternal value. Give God your best—your lifetime—and trust that He will take care of your future.“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Conclusion
My life is not my own—it is a gift dedicated to God. When you commit every hour of your day to Him, you invite His presence, guidance, and blessing into every aspect of your life. Don’t let your time be consumed by distractions that do not build your spirit. Instead, invest in what truly matters and give your life to God.
May you be richly blessed as you give your lifetime to the One who never fails. Amen.
