Don’t Talk Against the Man of God.
What does this mean? It’s a warning to refrain from making jest, criticizing, or speaking against a genuine, anointed man or woman of God. When God calls someone to serve Him, He defends and protects His servant, even if that person is human and subject to weakness.
“Do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.” (James 4:11)
The Danger of Criticizing God’s Anointed
Throughout Scripture, we see that God takes the integrity of His anointed very seriously. When conspiracies arose against Moses, or when mockers dared to challenge God’s prophet, the consequences were severe. The message is clear: do not use your tongue to undermine or ridicule the man of God. Instead, if you see any wrongdoing—even among God’s servants—your response must be prayer, not judgment.
“My dear brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it.” (James 4:11)
Responding in Prayer, Not Judgment
If you witness a mistake or sin by someone who is called by God, do not rush to condemn. Instead, honor their anointing by interceding on their behalf. When you confront a man of God with criticism, you not only risk inviting God’s wrath on your own life but also disrupt the unity and calling that God has placed upon His servant.
“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25)
The Call to Humility and Respect
Remember that all who serve God are human. They have strengths and weaknesses, and sometimes their actions may not meet our expectations. But they are under God’s authority and protection. Rather than becoming a critic, choose to be a humble intercessor. Pray for them, support them quietly, and leave judgment to God.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” (Philippians 2:3)
A Warning to Those Under God’s Anointing
If you are under the ministry of a man or woman of God, recognize that your role is to support and uplift, not to question or mock. The anointed servant is your leader—a shepherd sent by God to guide you. When you speak out against him, you risk sowing division and incurring consequences for yourself and your community.
“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls as those who will have to give an account.” (Hebrews 13:17)
Conclusion
In conclusion, be very careful with your words. Do not make jest or speak harshly against the man of God, for God defends and upholds His servants. Instead, when you see a lapse, go on your knees and pray for him. Honor the calling that God has placed on his life, and trust that God’s justice and mercy will prevail.
May God grant you wisdom and a spirit of humility as you seek to honor His anointed. Amen.
