Which Level Are You in the Realm of Spirit?

In our spiritual walk, we all occupy a level or position in the realm of spirit. Just as in a church or family there are different leadership roles—pastors, ministers, evangelists, and workers—so too in our spiritual lives there are levels of maturity and influence. The question is: Which level are you operating at?

Understanding Spiritual Levels

Consider how nature has its hierarchy. A lion, known as the king of animals, stands apart from a goat or a sheep. Imagine a lion in a marketplace—its presence alone causes people to run for safety. In the spiritual realm, a person operating at the “lion level” exudes such power and authority that even the forces of darkness are compelled to flee.

“For we are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness…” (Ephesians 6:12) citeturn0search0

The Process of Spiritual Growth

Just as a student must pass from one grade to the next by taking exams, our spiritual growth requires us to face tests and trials. These challenges are designed to refine our character and increase our faith so that we may move from one level to another. In Scripture, we see examples of this process:

  • Joseph’s Journey: Despite facing trials, temptations, and even imprisonment in a foreign land, Joseph’s integrity and steadfast faith propelled him from a pit to a position of power in Egypt. His story reminds us that every test prepares us for the destiny God has planned.

  • David’s Anointing: Before David became king, he had to demonstrate his faith and courage. His anointing was not an instant promotion but the result of overcoming challenges and proving his worth in God’s eyes.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” (James 1:2-3) citeturn0search0

Evaluating Your Level

Ask yourself:

  • Do I operate like a goat that blends in, unnoticed and unremarkable?

  • Or do I operate like a lion, whose presence demands attention and whose spirit exudes power for God’s kingdom?

As you grow closer to the Word of God and overcome the temptations and trials in your life, you move upward spiritually. Every challenge you pass is like writing an exam and moving from GS1 to GS2, then to GS3, and beyond. This progression isn’t automatic—it requires dedication, sacrifice, and discipline.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18) citeturn0search0

Practical Steps to Elevate Your Spiritual Level

  1. Immerse Yourself in God’s Word:
Just as a student studies for an exam, a growing Christian studies the Bible to understand God’s principles.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16) citeturn0search0

  2. Embrace Trials as Opportunities:
Every trial is a stepping stone. Do not shy away from challenges—they refine you and prepare you for higher responsibilities.

“The testing of your faith produces perseverance.” (James 1:3) citeturn0search0

  3. Practice Self-Discipline:
Whether it’s resisting temptations related to wealth, relationships, or any worldly desire, discipline is key to advancing in the realm of spirit.

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” (Hebrews 12:11) citeturn0search0

  4. Pursue Intimacy with God:
Regular prayer, fasting, and worship are your spiritual exams. They not only fortify your faith but also signal your readiness to move to the next level.

    “Pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) citeturn0search0

Final Challenge

Reflect on your journey: Are you content to remain unnoticed, or do you desire to operate at the “lion level,” where your faith makes a bold impact on the world? The path to higher spiritual levels involves testing, sacrifice, and continual reliance on God. As you pass each exam of faith, God will lift you higher, preparing you for greater responsibilities in His kingdom.

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31) citeturn0search0
